those rubber caps are likely to last only a year if you are lucky.
If the motor is out and apart its better to make threads and install a screw in plug. On my Bonneville, after seeing the rubber caps deteriorate, I made my own cap from a new 2" piece of quality heater hose with a appropriate diameter short bolt well clamped into one end of the hose (with sealer) then clamped onto the nipple.
I cringe when I see those rubber caps on cars because they are only meant for a temporary seal for testing etc much like a rubber vacuum cap on a carb. (those fall apart rapidly as well) using those rubber plugs on a race car is suicidal.
