According to the Greg Smith site there are plenty of lifts made in China, and some of theirs are too. The difference being is what factory are the lifts coming from. They have set up a manufacturing facility that is run by U.S. personnel in China and has the U.S. standards set in place and the U.S. quality control and engineering in place. Their site tells what the differences are in the quality of the lifts. It also shows a 2 post lift that is overated in capacity, and the catastophic failure that resulted when it was tested at the rated capacity. From their site, there are plenty of lifts that are rated at much more than they will safely lift. They also comare the actual weight of the steel in their lifts as to the competitions weights, metal gauges, engineering features.http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Articles.asp?ID=152
