I painted the steering column and will reassemble it this week. I also took the floor shifter apart, cleaned iy and put it back together. It will need a new handle or rechroming of the old one.
I paid $10.00 for a can of Mariner Turquoise paint for the steering column. It took 6 hours to do the work.
Labor@ 257 hrs = $5140.00
Parts.............. = $7203.19
Outside Labor.. = $3000.00
Total........... = $15243.00

Are you sure that your steering column is painted the same color as the exterior? I know that on most 65 cars the lower dash and steering column was painted a slightly different color than the exterior.
