I have seen these longer plates myself. Have a set.. I think they were left over from 69 or wre cross used from other Pontiac models when supplys of teh regular ones were short.. but yes, those were used. really doesn't matter which one you use though.. we are sort of splitting hairs when we start worrying about parts that wil never be seen and have no effect on performance...just my 2c
