Your ET is calculated as soon as you break the beams till you trip them again at the end of the 1/4.
The MPH is calculated by a pair of timing lights at the 1/8th mile and the 1/4 mile. Your MPH is determined by how accelerate thru those two sections not the entire 1/4 mile.
