the round hole vs the oval hole is not on the drivers side, it is the passengers side and is just foward of the scoop opening ,on the passengers side. and yes, 'ric is correct. 70 -71ish(sometime in 72 started changing) has 2 square holes not 4.
Steve.... did you just find out one of your Formulas has a later hood?? happened to me a couple years ago. hated it ...really thought,as we all do, that my car was all original only to find the hood had been replaced among other items..
original,usable 70-72 hoods can be hard to find. they have a habbit of rusting around the edges and/or at the mounting points.... good luck...
