I have American Collectors also. Had a windshield claim last year, Fast service no problem.
Tripower, I copied this right from the Sec of States website, I don't see where it says that you have to run an Vintage Illinois plate. I think that you can run a Vintage plate from any state.
"Historical License Plates, representing the model year, may be displayed on an antique vehicle, provided the owner has valid, current Antique Vehicle Plates. Plates and registration must be kept in the vehicle at all times."
