If you're after economy shove a 6.2 in it with 700r4 and a 2 series gearset and pull 30 mpg all day long. The one in my 78 k20 4x4 with 4:10's is pulling 22+ with a straight 4spd and a 6200# curb weight. It's been dependable as hell. I'm thinking of throwing an OD trans behind it.
