Hey Saltman,
I'm not sure what the factory used in 67 but when I bought the car it had rubber caps clamped to the water pump and at the Rt cyl head location to block off the heater hose connections.

I found that Advanced Auto ( and have seen then at Auto Zone) carries a "Bypass Kit" which consists of several different sizes of rubber caps. They are usually located in the section that carries Fix-it parts such as door window cranks, master cyl gaskets, grommets, etc. They are not re-inforced so I check them often for bulging and cracking and replace them frequently.

I usually carry an extra set in the center console "just in case" one decides to go south on me.

You can see the cap on the attached pic at the water pump housing. The same is at the cyl head.
