The 2.7 I think got a bad rep from lack of maintenance. the wife's intrepid was trouble free until i had to have heart surgery. she and her daughter ran it until there was three quarts off sludge in the pan instead of having it serviced until i could do it. They took out a rod Bering and gauged the crank (the common complaint with the 2.7). The Kia i have heard good and bad. I think the key to any new car is to keep it under warranty.
