Norm, I agree with you about the 70-75 Formula hoods. They were notorious for fitment and quality issues. Also, I liked the scoops going to the front BUT I didn't like the side profile of those earlier hoods. The scoops looked goofy from the side, like they were accidently put too far forward. Maybe I just got accustomed to so many other Pontiacs having the scoops in the center of the hood, who knows.
The 76 hood fits perfectly and is rock solid. It's heavier of course like a stock steel hood but that is a small price to pay in my book. Interesting about your interchangeable scoop idea. I never considered that idea. I have thought of picking up a spare hood though in case mine ever gets damaged. Probably not a bad idea for you as well.
BTW, I cannot wait to see cliffhangers "Hurst Firebird" next year. I expect some nice high resolution pics of that beauty to be posted here!!!
