Sorry for this long post, but I am removing the undercoating from under my car and repainting the frame so this is on my mind.

We'll see how particular/crazy you are. Palmetto Enterprises sells manganese phosphate solution to refinish your bolts if you want to reuse them. You can bet that the bolt kit that you buy will contain bolts that do not match the head markings of your originals. There is an "exact repo" of the body mounting bolts and the rear end mounting bolts with the correct shaped head, but the head markings are numerous so matching your originals is unlikely--if you give a toot about this.

Here is their site in case you want to speak to Scott and ask him how to clean and refinish your orignal bolts:

He also sells zinc phosphate which gives a light gray color for things such as hood hinges.

And I don't think there is anything wrong with using repo bolts--especially if your originals are weakened from rust.

I have seen some of these repo bolts and decided to refinish my originals which are in good shape. My car's 2 rear body bolts are longer than the rest of the body bolts with an "O" in the middle which matches the "O" marking on the large bolts that mount the rear end's factory traction bars/upper bars. The remaining body bolts are shorter and have a large "A" with no other markings. (The 2 at the radiator support are plain bolts if I remember correctly.)

Also, the original rubber body mounts have quite a few markings--my lower ones have the 3-grooves in them with some paint on them and the uppers have part numbers in them. They look nice so I have left them--except for the 2 at the radiator support which are cracked and will need to be replaced. The repo's I have seen so far are slick rubber.

just some interesting (to me) info.

And ask more questions as you come to them. Someone will be able to help. Lord knows I have received lots of help!

Michael
