Not a blown motor story, but I felt it was a story to share...

Bought a '78 Olds Omega for $50 in about 1992-1993. Bought it for the engine/trans (305/TH350) to put in an '84 Regal for my then-girlfriend. The regal had a 3.8L Buick motor with a bad cam and the 200r was on it's last leg, too.

Anyways, I bought the Omega, but on the way home it was smoking real bad. I was concerned that it may not be a good motor to use, so I decided that I needed to drive the car for a while to make sure the motor is still good (it was sitting for a year). My buddy talked me into welding the doors shut & cutting the roof off of it, so we did. Now I'm cruising this rotted out Omega convertible (baby poo brown & all) for about a week or so, when I decided to see what kind of damage a guardrail would do to it. It turns out that hitting a guardrail & keeping the wheel turned into it & driving about a 1/4 mile is soo much fun, that I had to turn around & do it to the other side (two of us in the car laughed for a long time). Then I decided that I needed to chase shopping buggies across parking lots with it, smashing into them at a high rate of speed (laughter for all involved - back in the days of hanging out in parking lots). I was worried that I would get myself in trouble with this car, so we took it to my buddy's garage & pulled the motor/trans out of it. Then his -at the time- 4year old son took a ball pean hammer to every surface/panel of the car. He enjoyed it soo much that he wanted us to get another junker to do it again.

I was about 22 at the time & was smart enough to know this could have been expensive if I would have been caught. It was the best $50 I ever spent in my life, though.

I sold the Regal several years later with that same 305/TH350 in it. I had put about 50k miles on it before selling it. The guy I sold it to passed it to his younger brother a year or so later, who blew the motor up.

I guess it was a blown motor story afterall.
