I just read thru all the pages of this post and want to tell you, nice job!
IMO, and that's all it is, you have done a great job.
As far as putting a "non-period correct" engine in our car, I have NO problem with that.
I have a #'s matching 68 GTO and I put a 468 chevy big block in it.
I have my #'s WT engine stored away for safe keeping in my garage, I wanted to have something that I could play with and not worry about throwing a rod thru the side of the block and destroying, and loosing what I can't replace.
