That is my point, it does act like a stressed member to keep the frame rails in position.
Any rack mount that is also acting like a "crash bar" will keep the frame rails in position when used with a front and mid plate. Does Diaper Boy have a rack or crash bar presently in his car or just conventional steering box?

You need to look at the whole picture vs one part.

I would say that if Jack has or puts a rack/ crashbar into his frame system he will be ok, without the rack/ crash bar I would install the removable support like Dave P did, expecially with normal steering.
