best place to look. you might try testing the wires at the connector b4 you pull it all apart. There is one wire taking brake light current up the column when the pedal is depressed, and that voltage should come back down to the connector on both rear turn/stop wires. If it is only one the the trouble is up the column or in the switch.
I can probably tell you what colors the wires are if you don't have a manual.
