It's not too difficult to make the stock throttle cable work, you just just have to be a little creative.
If you have a hacksaw, a few different hand files, a drill motor and a set of drills you can make it happen. Having access to a welder makes it even easier. Cut, drill, file, just do whatever it takes to put it in the right location. Maybe take a trip to your local hardware store and pick up a piece of 1" wide 1/8" thick steel flat stock, then cut it to length with a hacksaw and drill a couple of holes. Make a cardboard template to figure out what will work first, then go from there.
Installing aftermarket intakes usually means cutting or bending the original throttle bracket, or fabbing up another bracket to adapt it. In some cases I've had good results using the original bracket on aftermarket single-4 barrel intakes by just bending it some and adding a few washers between one or both bracket mounting holes and the intake.
