are you referring to the pot metal assembly with indicator lense attached to it?

if so, it just snaps on the top metal bracket of the shifter - two square cut openings in it - there's two U or C shaped spring clips that are "riveted" to pot metal piece. by "riveted" i mean it looks as if the pot metal had a little nipple the clips went over, then got smashed down to retain them. look at the underside of it, top and bottom ( front and back ), and you should see them or where they were.

more than likely theyre long gone though. i have a half dozen of them and all but one is missing one or both.
