Well, that didn't work!
I finally got my throttle cable from Ames, and was able to put about 100 miles on the car.
After spending a bunch of cash, time and effort, I am right back where I started. Sorta.
Before, with the mech fan, HD clutch, 180 degree standard flow thermostat, AC shroud and Rodney Red, my temp when moving was 195. At stop lights, it would creep up to 210+, but as soon as I got it moving, it would go back down to 195. Always.
Now, my idle temp is 195 with the fan wide open, and my running temp creeps up to 210+. NOTHING has been changed on the engine. I have a Taurus fan, DCControls fan controller, baffling around the radiator.
I tried a high flow, 160 degree stat. No change.
I tried NO thermostat at all. No change except that it would take longer to cool off when idling!
I drive this car a lot, and this is simply getting frustrating. Heat has always been an issue. I fixed the idling issue with the electric fan, but now I have the opposite problem.
Oh, and I clearanced the water pump divider plate to touch without a gasket back when I put the engine together.
