I'm so frustrated right now I'm about ready to give up. Been trying for the last two weeks to get the TA ready for Norwalk. We dropped the new rebuild in 2 weeks ago. Fired right up and ran for 3 minutes before it died due to a fuel problem. After much searching, we figured out the machine shop that had assembled the engine had used too long of a bolt to hold the fuel pump eccentric on causing it to loosenand break. Tore down the front of engine and replaced the eccentric and bolt. Ran it again to break in the cam. Noticed that the drain plug and valleypan were leaking. The machine shop had forgotten to put a gasket on the oil drain plug and had used no sealer or washers on the vallypan bolts. By this time I'm beginning to be worried about what else they did wrong. They've done pontiacs for me before with no problems. I took the car to get the exhaust done which was supposed to take 2 days. 5 days later, the car is ready. I drive the car home and notice that I hear a lifter noise. No biggie I think, just need to re adjust the valves. Started the car up this morning to pull it out of the garage and it's now backfiring through the carb. I'm hoping that one of the rockers just came loose, but the way my luck is running I fear the worst. I didn't trust myself to put it together on my own, but I don't think I could have done any worse than the shop that assembled it. Sorry, I just needed to vent!
