Your right. Steve Morse is a fantastic guitarist, but so is, lets say, Eddie Van Halen.
Would you accept Led Zepplin if Van Halen was their new guitarist?
I wouldnt. Its not Led Zepplin. Its a cover band. A very good cover band but a cover band none the less.
Deep Purple is still a fantastic band but its not really Deep Purple without Lord or Blackmore.
Its a tribute band now.
