I do not own a concours level car and probably never well (would love to build one some day if time and money ever allows). My Pontiacs are all in a state of partially restored. They are driven hard daily and rarely washed. Just had the 69 convertible out over the weekend and hit the rev limiter multiple times during a 500 feet burnout that melted the Mickey Thomson tires all over the 1/4s. I love these cars and have a strong passion for building them as correct as possible.
This thread is not about picking apart other peoples cars. It is about creating an awareness for all hobbyists that use the high end cars and auction cars as a frame of reference. An original unrestored car is the best reference for a restoration, but not everyone has access to that. The next thing they look at are cars that are for sale on ebay or at car auctions. There are many inaccuracies on these cars that a thread like this can make people aware of.
It's your car, build it your way and have fun with it! That is the bottom line.
Just don't put that Buick air cleaner decal on your car or turn the headlight 90 degrees and call it the best of the best and a concours gold restoration.
