Our old firestation(started in 56) was a renovated church from the 18 hundreds.
There was a "trench" drain with grating over it that ran down the center between the trucks. An 8' light was on 24-7 up front center of bays.
The old guys told stories, and rarely sat there alone late nights even though we had tv/satalite, and a pop machine full for beer for .65 cents.
Of course the stories didnt bother me. As a kid, my grand parents house was haunted.
The usual. Lights on-off, doors opening, chair pulled out from the kitchen table. Nothing bad.
One night i went to the firestn around 11-12.
There where 2 back bays with radio station, kitchen and table, tv, beer machine, etc. separated from the frt of stn by an open doorway.
If you sat in the right spot can see all the way down the ctr to the overhead doors.
There was a man door on one side. No one came there except 1st guys there for calls to manually raise truck doors.
Anyway, while sipping my beer watching tv, heard someone walking up from the very front on the drainage grate(not usuall during normal activity).
After a about 15-20 steps, i leaned over to see who it was...NO ONE...and heard 3-4 more steps coming, then stopped(about 30' from where i was).
The hair on my arms and back of neck stood up.
Went up and checked the man door. Locked.
Looked all around to see if someone was mess'n with me.
Checked for any other cars outside.
Chugged my beer at left!
Didnt say anything till about a month later it happened to someone else.
The old guys laughed and said you've been inducted/welcomed by the resident night watchman.
