Sorry to hear about your friend. Plastic generates a huge amount of static electricity. This is why plastic is not allowed in aircraft fueling. Eveything has to be grounded together. We had a local man burned severely from fueling a plastic can in the bed of his truck. It blew up due to a static discharge. I hope your friend recovers.
