I tried to add a ground like you suggested, but it didn't work. Light stayed on. Seems there's some type of backfeed keeping the light on. If it wasn't in such a bad place to get to, I'd just solder bridge across the two points. Once I get the instrument panel down, depending on how bad it is, I'll either fix it or replace it.

I have the whole wiring diagram at home, unfortunately, I'm at work right now.
