I'm certainly having some MAJOR issues with my XE274H cam. I've got it in my 9.5:1 400 and since switching to this cam, the engine runs terrible and overheats in just a few minutes. The engine ran fine with the 290B solid cam, but I felt it lacked bottom end and the cam was simply too big for my 9.5:1 400. So, I switched to the smaller XE274H with hopes of picking up some lowend torque. That's when all heck broke loose. I've been through everything on this car (radiator, flushed the engine block, hoses, valvetrain adjustments, waterpump, timing, and have even installed a new distributer). Results- Nothings working. The car runs hot and detonates really bad after just a few minutes of run time. I even contacted Comp Cams tech people to try to get an answer and the reply I recieved today was that they've been bouncing this issue around the office for days now and nobody can come up with an answer. I've got the engine back apart now and can find nothing wrong with anything!!! Timing dots are lighned up perfectly, but it acts like it's WAY too advanced when running. Even at 32 degrees total, it detonates and overheats. So far, I really HATE this cam.
