The Smith system has 5 major components that they teach and if followed they will make you a much better, safer, driver, you don't have to be a Semi driver for them to apply either.

1) Aim high in steering.

2) Get the big picture.

3) Keep your eyes moving.

4) Leave yourself an out.

5) Make sure they see you.

If your looking for a Christmas gift for any driver, especially a newer recent one on your list one of their DVD s would make a great gift, it might even save their life at some point. A much better gift than most any thing else I can think of. The best part many people could watch it and become better drivers, parents, grand parents, other teens included. A gift that would truly keep on giving. Okay my public service announcement is over.................................

Great PSA and an awesome idea!

I learned the Smith System in HS drivers ed almost 30 years ago, although I had forgotten what it was called. It makes just as much sense now as it did then. Too bad most folks don't seem to use it.
