Back in the '60"s, Hot Rod Mag ran an article on opening up closed chamber Pontiac heads, grinding out the combution chambers similar to the '68+ heads.
As I recall they dropped the SCR a lot, but then ran pop-up pistons and had pretty good HP numbers.
Could something similar be a possibility? Maybe not so much cutting and still run flattop pistons?
