You say the car is at normal operating temp so I would check the blend door and see if it is opening and closing properly. You can move the temp lever quickly and listen for the door to slam. Also check the heater core for blockage feel the heater hoses the inlet hose should be hot and the outlet hose warm. If car is heating up to normal operating temp in a timely manner and gauge reads normal I doubt a thermostat.
