Your on the right track, follow through with GM directly, let them handle it. I have heard of faulty high psi pumps leaking and causing the problems of driveability that you noted. More then likely the pump is leaking. Bad news is it's probably built by some crappy supplier and until all the old pumps cycle the system it may happen again. This is no different for any manufacture. I bet GM will foot the bill on it.
