I am really torn on this one.

I had my own business for 10 years, 6 of them it was my full time business. I hear what everyone is saying about the work it takes to run a business. I understand the risks, I lost ALL of my retirement savings when the market crashed. And I REALLY understand the frustration dealing with the government. I have been closed for 4 years now and am still battling them about the fact that I didn't file employee taxes last year! ! ! ! !

HOWEVER, I also was able to coach my daughters softball team for all those years, make every game and every major family event. If I didn't want to take on a project or work with a particular sub I didn't have to, MY CALL. I also was able to do business meetings while kayaking on Lake Michigan ( got to love cell phones ). I never really take vacations so that never bothered me.

I now have a serious stable income, I am still dealing with employees, difference is I have an HR department to hand then off to when it gets out of control. I am enjoying the perks of working in a corporate environment again, the travel, and the good dining are nice.

But at the end of the day the truth is I have to REPORT to the guy in the corner office instead of BEING the guy in the corner office. And that sucks no matter how much you like your job.

Final word, "Life is like a crap sandwich. The more bread you have the less crap you have to taste."
