I picked the car up yesterday from the body shop, and while Im happy with it overall, there are a few things that I am not. To be clear, the shop is always willing to work with me on my "picky" fixes, but I prefer to try and resolve them myself.
The most significant issue on this car is that the primer they used on the underside is NOT DP74LF, which from the start, was clear that although it was slightly brighter than the original color, it was what I wanted them to use. The stuff they used is close in color, but not in sheen. The most frustrating part is that when the pictures were emailed to me weeks ago, I questioned whether it was DP74 because the sheen was "off", and I was lied to. This was confirmed when I picked up the car, saw the can and on top of it, the supply house was delivering another gallon of the same red oxide primer.
WHATEVER..whats done is done. I got a great deal as always, and I know that if I pushed the matter, they would do what I asked. I wont bring it back for something like this because I fear the car will be gone for another 2 months. Knowing that I cant live with it either, my only alternative was to fix it myself. So I spent the day under the car (on my lift) shooting it with clear. It actually worked out well, as not only does it have the right sheen, but it also seems to have darkened it up a shade. While at it, I also blacked the wheel wells out, and duplicated the undercoating in the areas this car had it.
