Thanks..great description. I hooked up just like you stated. I do have the ground strap.

Been working on it this morning. Appart from the washer pump not working, it just does not want to turn off. When I hit the off it reverses itself, like to park the wipers and clicks once and then just keeps repeating the cycle and continues to run. I am thinking that perhaps I burnt out resistor or something.

Electrical debug is not my strong suit. Appreciate any other insight and will keep pluging away at it.
