So you can get a read on the climate: I live in a pretty affluent county. There is basically '0' enforcement here when it comes to property crimes. Other crime limited enforcement as well. We have 100 officers and 3 on duty at night for 700 square miles. Not long ago they threatened to stop prosecuting all crimes at the misdemeanor level due to lack of funds. In my experience they have made a science of doing nothing. I have filed a half dozen reports with little result. It is all at the "discretion of the individual officer", who is different every time. Local drug joint task force says that they know all the perps at all levels but only bother with ones who have weapons that may be a threat to officers since "drugs can not hurt us but guns can kill us". What kind of task force was that again?

I just stashed 50lbs of 7.62s. I also bought some smaller magazines b/c they are so cheap. Might not do much good against an A-10, but a gang of 3-4 meth addicts would be barely a fair fight. I can remember back in the 70s when crime went way up too. What ended up stopping it was when everyone down to old ladies started blasting when unexpected visitors came through the door at night. If they go to the A-10s we will be under martial law since they are not technically allowed to use the military against civilians, so I doubt they will care much about what is going on at individual residences. I personally will have business to attend to if that day comes.

I have noticed that .45 FMJ is hard to find as well.

Be careful with the metals trade. Escalator up and elevator down as they say. It will be valuable in inflationary times, but stocks do well in inflationary environments as well.

It never hurts to be prepared, but you can only be right with the armageddon bet one time, so don't get too crazy.
