That's why I stick to the '68 and later Beetles...They're still great little cars but have hardly any value monetarily speaking.

I am very aware how much people will pay for these things. I did upholsetery work for 10 years (20 years ago) and people (even then) would spend a fortune on these things. The earlier Beetles go for a lot as well. These people bidding on this one will have a whole lot of work and a lot more money to put into this one, though. I beleive some of the Hemi powered Mopars that go across the auction probably cost almost as much to restore as the lower bids are going for. A lot of the "good" vehicles have already been restored IMO. A lot of what people are working with now is the junk that is left-hence the stuff you see on Craigslist, and the high cost of restoration.
