The hydroboost is a hydraulic brake booster, that mounts in place of a vacuum booster behind the master cylinder, using power steering fluid (and pump pressure to operate.) Fluid route from the pressure side of the pump, back to the steering box. There is a lot more assist provided by this setup than a vacuum booster could possibly provide. Allowed my RA IV cammed 455 setup to stop better than most new cars, with little effort. Trucks with diesels and turbocharged vehicles have used this for years.
