If the engine is stock then your best performance will be with a factory intake. The Q-Jet is a great performing carburetor and will get decent mileage on the street compared with aftermarket offerings. The deal with the Q-Jet is they are 40 plus years old and usually need some work to make them function properly and be reliable. There are professional carb guys like Cliff Ruggles that can set you up with a nice q-jet all prepped and ready to go. Also if you want to work the carb your self Cliff Ruggles has a book that will guide you if you want to do it your self. I don't like the Edelbrock carbs, for racing I like the Holley and for the street I like the Q-jet. The Holley is a reliable carb and works well on the street too but mileage won't match the q-jet.
