Mentioned in another thread, personal mileage king was an 89 Cherokee Laredo with the 4.0 & Commandtrack. It went 278K before being sideswiped by a semitrailer. For a while, I even drove it banged up down the right side pillars. Pulled in tons of partcars & project cars with the Cherokee. Always surprised folks the loads I'd pull with it, very tough for an early mid sized SUV with no frame, unitized construction. It's OD transmission was an Asian, built by Toyota, & never gave a hint of a problem. Other than a drivers door hinge separating from a weld, late in life, & a cracked exhaust manifold at 140K, great vehicle. With dynamax cat & muffler & one size taller tires, the '89 managed 23mpg out on the highway at 70. Still ran strong the day I hauled it to a friend's yard
Have owned my Cummins Dodge for little over 10 years, it has nearly 200K miles, only parts needed have been a hydraulic slave cyl for the clutch, brake pads, & shoes, & two battery cables. In buying it I specifically searched out one of the last 12V Cummins. Am seriously considering put a shortbed ext cab chassis under it along with a shortwide bed & handing the keys to my son. I've let him drive it several times & it would be a handful to park in HS parking lot.
