That's 'cause I didn't attempt to 'splain my meaning!

Even when precise location of centerlines is accomplished (cam/spud/pump), perfect orientation of all of the items' axes is not within reason to measure or correct. Even high-end shops make some assumptions- that cam centerline is perpendicular to block face, etc. It's best to allow for this possible slight cam-to-pump angularity with a loose-fitting drive.

I prefer to dowel-pin (or otherwise locate) all precision-location engine pieces (timing cover to block, etc.), so the dial indicator work is only required initially.
