The Pontiac crank snout is reasonably short and that sorta helps. I'd hate to try a 460 Ford which has the same OD snout as the Pontiac but near twice as long. The further out any possible imbalance or harmonic is the greater its effect. IMO precise balance, belt loading across the pulley equal, and harmonic control are most important. As far as strength in the rotational direction I think you will be fine Eric.
