Hi Lloyd, we decided to drive straight through on our way back Saturday evening, so it was the wee hours of Sunday morning when we passed through Houston.
It was quite an eventful weekend. On the way over Thursday evening, I was able to drop off a Formula hood that I sold to a Forum member who lives right on the route on IH-10 we were traveling. And of course he shows up at the storage unit in his '71 TA. Nothing like door to door delivery for a big item like that.
When we showed up in Florida we weren't sure what to expect. The previous owner had this car for 30 years. It was restored in '82 and taken off the road in '92. Communication with him was difficult at times, and he swore he would never sell her. But all was good afterall. He is the same individual I purchased the 4spd car from last year. He had owned the 4spd for 15 years, so there is something serendipitous that these cars are back together again
On the way back, one of the catalytic converters in the GMC Sierra clogged (180K on the original exhaust), and the performance and gas mileage really dropped. We thought it through and decided to drill holes in both cats. This free'd up the exhaust air flow, and we were able to limp home.
We spent today sorting the car out and verifying numbers. It looks like it's mostly there but will need rust repair in the usual locatins, a complete interior, and dozens of bits under the hood.
The transmission is a '77 PC with an aqua tag.

I'll start on this car this winter. The engine will go to Jim Robertson (from these Forums) to be rebuilt. He has the 4spd engine now, so I'll just swap out a nice fresh 455HO for a 'run hard and hung up wet one' when he's done!
