I left my heater control in place and undid the three cables. You have to be careful not to scratch up the paint when you pull it. Dropping the steering column def. helps.
I took apart the fan switch (by bending back the tabs) and cleaned it all up inside and got it to work again. Tested it with an ohm meter for resistance to check it.
