I don't either and it is one of my biggest complaints about driving - simply leave a safe distance and everyone will be fine. I've actually put my truck in park, gotten out, walked back and introduced myself to the people behind me, explaining to them that if the only thing I can see when I look in my rear view mirror is the top of their windshield & roof - we're going to be meeting soon anyways.
I swear one day I will slam on my breaks for one of them - unfortunately (or fortunately) there's always somebody else in the vehicle with me when I'm tailgated, and I won't do it then.
