Not quite... I'd have prefered the CV2 configuration from the start. To
me it would have been an evolution of the RA5. Much along same lines as Ford's 429 SCJ iron heads evolved to Blue Thunders and P51 heads. To me, I would consider it as something that "might" have been, had Pontiac been allowed to play more. Thats something I did mention to Jim quite a long time ago.
As far as results... its doing OK much has to do with learning curves and budgets and of course perceptions. I think we have all seen examples of all the right pieces and yet somehow someone gets less than expected results while others are getting good results with same pieces. Certain "talk"
good or bad may help ego's but does nothing for development of anyones favorite brand cylinder heads.
As far as finding problems... Bad habit I guess. Thats what I got paid to do for over 35 years. That included finding ways to resolve problems. At some point if you see something that might be problematic or simply could be done better do you sit on the sidelines and do nothing, or do you see if a revision may be a consideration?
However I may come across, my criticisms are generally intended to be constructive. (Hey I'm no more perfect than anyone else here. I need no reminders of where I've been less than constructive. ) Constructive criticism is good. Ill spirited and vendictive criticism that some spew is destructive for ALL of us.
I'm NOT an Edelbrock head hater! (or any other for that matter) Way back it was like we had to wait for everyone else before Pontiac got any attention from Edelbrock. Then while they continued with new developments for other brands,for years(decades?) we Pontiac lovers just kind of got put on hold again. So... now, finally, some new stuff and there are things there that dont have to be the way they are... unless we let them think we'll take it anyway and fix things ourselves like we always seem to end up doing.
Personally I'd rather not invest in labor to work around something so I could "get by", if it could have been addressed at the manufacturing level. ANY product.
