As far as I've seen on the 60s Pontiacs I've had, there was no backing material in the doors or rear quarter panels of the A-bodies. Doors had a watershield under the door panel and that was it. Tho some do put some type of sound deadener inside the doors these days. There is a panel with jute backing that goes between the rear seat and the trunk to cut the noise, and keep warmth in the passenger compartment in cold weather.
