I was planning on mocking up a stock block and set of junkyard head castings to start fabbing things up. But quickly realized that as much piping and stuff everywhere clearances are getting tight and my fears of small differences between the factory stuff and my new stuff have overcame me. The time and money I'm gonna have in just fab work, metal, supplys, coating, etc etc...I can't afford to do it twice. Take 60 thou - a 1/4 inch at the back of the engine, and now stretch that small mistake over 4 feet with many bends and close tolerances, and you have an entire hot and cold induction system that dont fit worth a crap.
So I've decided to just keep stacking up parts and tools, and wait on butler and all Pontiac to finish my stuff and I'll just build it to fit my actual engine, so there is less chance for error. Ive got my gig up and running and finally got a mig. I have been learning on the tig. Quillen motorsports is sending me all the flanges I need. Sorry I don't have any more updates than that. Just been a lil disappointed in my progress myself.

Basically I agree with everything that you are doing. Better to give it your best effort vs trying to figure out how to fix your next screw-up. Your car WILL be one nasty mutha!
