getmygoat makes an important point - speaking from first-hand experience, small companies feel small upticks in commerce far more than big companies do.

Here is an idea: Research local rebuilders near you. For example, I will research local rebuilders in SE Wis ... BTW, I am talking about an hour's effort to compile who is somewhat near me. Now, if YOU do the same thing and save your results, we will have a listing of companies around the USA that rebuild water pumps. Then, divide the map up in sections (by state or ??) and pick the most willing/promising rebuilder in each area.

Have that rebuilder do it the preferred way and promote those shops are the where-to-buy shop.

...does that make sense to you guys? (It does to me but I may be nuts)

Small shops respond to small blips.
