As a rookie and for a few years after Yes tony was a "billy bad ass" on the track. Just like every one of the top drivers,He was "tame" compared to some of the "old school" drivers and came into that crowd having to "earn his bones" or be slapped around every race. He continued that too long and nearly lost his ride and sponsor over it.
You can't really judge what he is NOW by what he did before the slap down. He's NOT the same snot nosed brat he was years ago.
EVERY driver goes through the same thing tony did to SOME degree, SOME like tony take a little longer and a harder boot in the rear to settle down than others.
