I'm not exactly sure what's supposed to be there, but you mention a pin? Do you still have the part that broke off? What about using one of those welding guns they use to spot weld rods onto car bodies for pulling dents? Do you think something like that might work? I'm just pulling guesses out of the air, but that thought did occur to me.
