A cranking compression test is definitely in order.
Warm engine, throttle wide open, all plugs out, hot battery and good starter for the most repeatable results.

Probably should double-check the camshaft timing. Just dot-to-dot on the gears doesn't cut it.

Most likely undergeared for your application.

I'll just about guarantee that you're too rich in the secondaries.
